Bob Bradford is one of the seven who co-founded the Maple Leaf Club
of Los Angeles in 1967. At age 5 he began studying classical piano, with a particular love for Chopin. Not counting his one appearance on
"The Gong Show," Bob shies away from professional playing, but can belt out a mean rag (if no one's paying attention). His love for
ragtime began in high school. Sifting through a box of his dad's old sheet music, Bob discovered a 1916 edition of the "Maple Leaf Rag." A
teacher sight read the piece for him and a new ragtime devotee was hatched. A New York collector began sending Bob mint Joplin originals
every few weeks, along with music by other early composers. Bob spent hours working on these gems, still enjoying them to this day. Later
Bob expanded his collection to include novelty, stride, and 20s and 30s tunes. He has since served three terms as President of the
National Sheet Music Society and has met such historical figures as Arthur Marshall, Charley Thompson, Eubie Blake, Joe Jordan, Roy Bargy
and several others. Currently Bob devotes his time to producing and writing movies, and has just completed a horror flick that he filmed
near his home in the Yosemite area.
