Steve Standiford makes his first appearance as a scheduled performer at the West Coast Ragtime festival this year, after several years in the Open Piano sessions. Steve has been playing piano for more than 40 years, and playing ragtime for thirty-three. He has performed at the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, Missouri, the John William Boone Ragtime Festival in Columbia, Missouri, the Great River Jazz Festival in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the Eau Claire Ragtime Festival, the Lake Superior Ragtime Festival, and solo concerts throughout Wisconsin. He plays weekly at Central Waters Brew Pub in Marshfield, performs ragtime and Dixieland on string bass and tuba with
The Ragtime Ramblers, and classic rock and roll on keyboards with The Pointless Brothers.

After moving to Marshfield, Wisconsin seven years ago, he founded the Central Wisconsin Ragtime and Early Jazz Society to promote this music, bringing nationally known performers to the area for concerts as well as sponsoring events in schools and in the community to allow others to enjoy and learn about this first American popular music form.

When not pursuing all these musical interests, he is a cancer surgeon at the Marshfield Clinic. He lives on a farm outside of Marshfield with two horses, four cats, two tractors, and two grand pianos.
