Stephanie Trick has been playing the piano since she was five years old. Her teacher, Diane Ceccarini (pianist for all the Broadway shows at popular St. Louis venues such as The Muny in Forest Park, the Fox Theatre, and Webster University’s Rep Theatre), has always emphasized the importance of playing expressively as well as having a solid technical foundation. During her time at Principia Upper School in St. Louis, Stephanie took full advantage of the concert and jazz band programs under the direction of Martha Stitzel. She played percussion in the concert band, piano in the jazz band, and a range of instruments in the pit orchestra for spring musical productions, from the tympani to the accordion. Stephanie has been a long-time fan and player of ragtime, and participated in and won the Friends of Scott Joplin Ragtime Competition for three years in a row. She has recorded a CD of some of her favorite ragtime, jazz, and classical music. (If interested, see her between sets.) She is presently pursuing undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago, where she continues to further her musical education. |
