Hailing from Hampshire, Illinois is the two-time Junior Champ of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest, 14 year old Daniel Souvigny. He's been playing the piano since the age of 5, and started developing a big passion for ragtime at the age of 9. Daniel has had the honor of performing at the Eagles and Ivories Ragtime Weekend in Muscatine, Iowa, the Eau Claire, Wisconsin Ragtime Festival and the 14th annual Chippewa Valley Ragtime Society Spring Concert, the Blind Boone Festival in Columbia, Missouri and the Scott Joplin Festival in Sedalia, Missouri. Reviews from these Festivals have described Daniel as "the new sensation who plays with power and surprising musicality" and "A whiz kid whose fingers fly across the keyboard.” In January 2014, he was awarded First Place in the Illinois State Talent Competition Junior Division in Springfield, Illinois. His first CD, "Tearin' Up the Keys" was released in February 2013, and he is currently working on his second CD. Daniel enjoys an audience and brings plenty of energy and pizzazz to his performances. He is thrilled to be back for his second year at the West Coast Ragtime Festival. Come listen and support a talented young rag-timer who will bring this great music well into the future.
