Chicago native, singer Meredith Axelrod loves early twentieth century music, including ragtime and its contemporary styles. She learned to sing from listening to performances recorded during the ragtime era, on cylinders and 78 rpm records.
Meredith has toured in the US and internationally, and sung for audiences far and wide, at ragtime festivals including the Blind Boone Ragtime and Early Jazz Festival and the West Coast Ragtime Festival.
She has performed with Maria Muldaur and Dan Hicks at the San Francisco Jugband Festival and in a parade, with Lavay Smith at San Francisco’s Café Du Nord, and with Devine's Jug Band at the Great American Music Hall, the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, the National Jugband Jubilee, the San Francisco Jugband Festival, and with the Crown Syncopators on New Year's Eve 2012.
With Craig Ventresco, she regularly sings and plays guitar and ukulele at Café Divine in San Francisco’s North Beach every Wednesday night 7-9 and at the Atlas Café most Saturday afternoons 4-6.
Meredith sings and plays guitar, kazoo, and jug in Devine’s Jugband, led by former Bo Grumpus percussionist, Pete Devine.
