Shirley has performed at various festivals such as Orange County Ragfest, Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival, West Coast Ragtime Festival, Fresno Flats Festival, Sedalia Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival, and Blind Boone Festival. Her repertoire features the works of Eubie Blake; the classic rags of Joseph Lamb, James Scott, and Scott Joplin; rags by women composers; and compositions by contemporary composers of ragtime. |
Shirley Case is a classically trained pianist with advanced degrees in Piano Performance, now retired after 30 years of teaching piano in her studio in Laguna Beach. Visits to the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, MO, first drew her to the joys of ragtime, and she enjoys introducing audiences to America's rich heritage of this wonderful music. She has served three years as a judge for the Youth Competition of Ragtime held in Sacramento in November, and loves to encourage the young performers.
