In addition to his work at the the Scott Joplin House State Historic Site in St Louis, Bryan Cather has made a name for himself in recent years as a thorough, meticulous and insightful historical researcher. Largely confining his ragtime research to the St Louis area, where he has lived for almost ten years, Bryan has been a popular speaker at both the Scott Joplin Festival in Sedalia Missouri, and at the Chippewa Valley Ragtime Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. His presentations are often filled with never-before-seen information, and often challenge his audience's preconceived ideas about ragtime performers and composers. A native Texan, Bryan is also a respected authority on player pianos and piano rolls, having authored a number of widely acclaimed articles on various roll and player related topics |
