As a teenager growing up in San Diego in the 1970's, Alisa Clancy first got interested in jazz while in Jr. High band (she played drums and piano) and has always fostered a nerdy interest in pop culture, the theater, classical music and film. She managed to combine all of those interests while in college working at stations WKYU in Bowling Green Kentucky during undergrad. school and then at WFDD at Wake Forest University, while working on a Master's Degree. Clancy worked in professional theater for several years before moving to the Bay Area in 1987 where jazz and broadcasting moved to the solo spotlight. She's been Operations Director at KCSM-FM and co-host of the weekday gig of A Morning Cup of Jazz for more than twelve years. Clancy teaches jazz history, theater and film when she can, but has to admit that teaching has taken a back-seat to child-rearing lately--she and her musician husband Clint Baker are parents of young twins, Riley and Ramona, and make their home on the Peninsula. You can hear her eclectic mix of morning jazz Monday through Friday from 6am to 10am. |
