Joyce Grant, born in Texarkana, Arkansas (the town where Scott Joplin was raised) moved to Oakland, California as a child where she started singing at an early age in her church choir. Since that time she has earned the respect of singers and musicians alike performing professionally in the Bay Area for over 20 years. Her unique shows consist of a blend of jazz, blues, country western, r&b and funk. She is a singer/songwriter. She has written lyrics not only for her own original material but also for a few Joplin ragtime pieces ie. Maple Leaf Rag, Solace and others.

Joyce Grant is the great-great niece of famed ragtime composer Scott Joplin. This year makes her fourth appearance singing for the West Coast Ragtime Festival. She will be performing with the Pacific Coast Ragtime Orchestra. Joyce can be seen performing every Friday night at the Donatello Hotel in San Francisco (inside Zingari Ristaurante), every month at Sam’s Chowder House in Half Moon Bay, as well as other bay area venues. Joyce Grant performs with her own band Joyce Grant and Company, she is the lead vocalist for City Swing Big Band (a sixteen piece big band), and is one of two lead vocalist for Flashback Band (an “old school” r&b band).
