MARTIN JÄGER, a Swiss who grew up near Zurich, started his professional life as a medical doctor with a degree from the University of Zurich. But music, his first love, eventually won out. Martin discovered American ragtime and Gershwin, and his life changed. In 1977, he was one of five finalists at the Swiss Boogie Woogie & Ragtime Competition. A year later he embarked on a six-year course of classical study at the Conservatory of Music in Zürich. Since 1996, Martin has been a regular guest performer at ragtime festivals throughout the U.S. Felix Fürer studied music & drums at the Conservatory of Music in Zürich. Besides being a teacher, he became a well known drummer playing with numerous musicians, bands and orchestras throughout Europe, including the Rundfunkorchester Leipzig in Germany. In 1993 he became a member of the “Swiss Ragtimers” who accompany silent movies with ragtime piano and slapstick effects. 1997 to 2002 he appeared at the WCRF in Sacramento and the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, introducing his famous Swiss washboard to the public. After a long break Felix is finally back in Sacramento. He’ll play along with Martin Jäger according to their CD “Ragtime Feeling” which is still going strong at several radio stations in France and Switzerland. |
